Job Description

Have you ever played a game and been frustrated by poor or incomplete translation, supposed jokes, cultural references that were out of place? Well this is your chance to make a real difference in making games more suitable for their target audiences. We want you to bring your passion for both games and languages.

We have three roles available: Translator, Proof-reader and Localization QA Tester. And we are looking for people able to speak German. Please find the JD below:

Translation and/or Proof-reader

Main Duties:

  • Translation of in-game contents and any other translations, such as in-game text, promotional text, manuals and more, that may be necessary for the final product.
  • Identifying spelling, grammar, punctuation and other language errors.
  • The Proof-reader directly checks the work done by the translator to ensure that any issues, such as grammar, punctuation, spelling, and other linguistic problems are highlighted and corrected.
  • Other responsibilities for the roles may include: creating and maintaining terminology databases/glossaries for games contents, translation of internal and external documents and translation of contents for all clients. We will work with game titles for many major publishers before they are released.

Localisation QA Tester

Localisation testing involves performing language checks on a range of games for a variety of platforms including PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U, PSP, DS and various mobile phones.

Main Duties:

  • Identifying spelling, grammar, punctuation and other language errors.
  • Ensuring console manufacturer guidelines are adhered to.
  • Logging details of errors/issues found and providing suggestions for improvements.
  • Ad hoc German translation.

 Person Specification:

  • Native level fluency in German.
  • Strong English language skills
  • Strong cultural understanding of English and the language you are applying for.
  • Enthusiastic gamer.
  • Great team worker.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

Contract Details:

  • As we operate on a project by project basis, this role is offered on a casual basis.
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Some flexibility for overtime may be required though (paid).
  • Pro-rated holidays.
